Karyn Crisis' Gospel of the Witches release song from new LP, playing Legacy of the Witch feminist fest w/ Azar Swan, more

Karyn Crisis

You may remember that last year Karyn Crisis (singer of the now-defunct NYC metal oddballs Crisis) launched a Kickstarter to fund an album with her new band Gospel of the Witches which also includes her husband Davide Tiso (of Ephel Duath), Immolation frontman Ross Dolan, Tombs frontman Mike Hill, and Vaura drummer Charlie Schmid. The album, titled Salem’s Wounds, will be out March 10 via Century Media, and the first single “Mother” is out now. It’s a six-minute epic that’s as weird as you’d expect the singer of Crisis to sound, as you can hear below. Tracklist below too, and that’s the artwork above.

Gospel of the Witches are on board for Legacy of the Witch: A Slutist Feminist Festival with Azar Swan (who also include a member of Vaura) and more. Slutist writes:

Whether explicitly identifying as witches or weaving neo-pagan aesthetics into their work, all the women involved in the fest embrace the witch archetype in unique ways. It was a thread we couldn’t deny, and so we decided to go with it. Historically, women were branded as witches to police their sexuality and diminish their power in the same way that men (and women) today use the s-word to single out and punish women who challenge the patriarchal status quo. We hope to bring these parallel discourses to light over the course of the night.

Also on the lineup is Delphic Oracle, Chicava HoneyChild, The Reverend Mother Flash, Severely Mame, Minx Arcana and Pam Grossman. The fest happens March 29 at Saint Vitus. Tickets are on sale.

Azar Swan’s second album recently came out, and you can listen to that HERE.
