Kelley Stoltz is a busy man, he is an in-demand producer, having twiddled knobs recently for The Mantles, Tim Cohen and Sonny & the Sunsets, the latter of whom he’s also an occasional band member. That hasn’t left the most time in the world for his own music, and it’s been purtneer three years since To Dreamers came out on Sub Pop.

Last year, though, Kelley did come out of released the great Two Imaginary Girls 7″ (with two new songs) but it only came out in France. But he is back in force with a new album on September 24, Double Exposure, which will be his first for Third Man Records. That’s the cover art above. Jack White’s label — with it’s emphasis on the home crafted — seems like a good fit for Stoltz who may have been a little too esoteric for Sub Pop. Clocking in at 42 minutes, the new album is another 10 songs that display Kelley’s unique ability to filter 50 years of pop into his own wry worldview. The record was mixed and mastered by Mikey Young of Eddy Current Suppression Ring/Total Control fame and sounds pretty damn good.

That worldview seems to include food trucks now if the first released track is any indication. Dig into “Kim Chee Taco Man” below. You can also stream “Marcy,” which originally appeared on the Two Imaginary Girls single, below as well.

The last time Kelley played NYC was opening for Echo & the Bunnymen, so here’s hoping the new album will have him doing a headlining tour sometime soon. Anyone who’s seen him live knows he’s a very funny guy and great storyteller, and I’d like to see a patented limited edtion Third Man, “Fun With Kelley Stoltz,” record out too. But maybe that’s just me.

Track streams below…
