Kerrang says these are the 50 Best American Metal Bands of the 2010s

Deafheaven at Brooklyn Steel
Deafheaven (who, spoiler, is #6) at Brooklyn Steel in 2018 (more by Ester Segretto)

If you’re familiar with rock mag Kerrang, you know they love to make lists of bands, and today they’ve done another one: The 50 Best American Metal Bands From The Last Decade. Here is the criteria for inclusion:

1. The band must be American.
2. The band must be current — actively playing shows, releasing albums, etc.
3. The band’s first full-length album must have come out in 2010 or later (so, apologies to Killswitch Engage, Pig Destroyer, and The Black Dahlia Murder).
4. The band must be discernibly metal or have roots in metal (as opposed to hardcore or punk — which is why there’s no Code Orange or Vein).

Keep scrolling to see who made their list, and you can read commentary on each pick here.
