Khruangbin played through the rain @ SummerStage w/ Connan Mockasin & Kikagaku Moyo (pics)
Last night’s soggy weather did not dampen spirits at Khruangbin‘s set at SummerStage at Central Park. The sky opened in the middle of their set Thursday night (6/20) and no one seemed to mind at all, hypnotised by the Texas trio’s tight, funky, instrumental grooves. (Not too hypnotised to open umbrellas, mind you.) Khruangbin get better every tour; their setlist from Thursday is below.
It was an all around great bill at SummerStage on Thursday, with eccentric New Zealander Connan Mockasin — who had his rooftop show at Elsewhere the night before moved indoors due to the weather — playing with members of MGMT in his band, including Andrew VanWyngarden on bass. The evening was opened by the electric sitar-fueled psychedelic sounds of Japan’s Kikagaku Moyo (who are on part of Khruangbin’s tour). Check out pics from the whole night in the gallery above.
