King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard releasing FIVE new LPs in 2017, share "Rattlesnake," announce spring tour
UPDATE: We wrote “at the rate they release stuff, King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizzard might have a new LP by the time of the tour.” Little did we know they’d be releasing FIVE new LPs in 2017. The first of them is titled Flying Microtonal Banana and will be released on February 24 via ATO. It’s an experiment in microtonal instruments that use smaller intervals between notes than the standard Western 12-note scale. Say the band:
Earlier this year we started experimenting with a custom microtonal guitar our friend Zak made for Stu,” explained drummer Eric Moore. “The guitar was modified to play in 24-TET tuning and could only be played with other microtonal instruments. We ended up giving everyone a budget of $200 to buy instruments and turn them microtonal. The record features the modified electric guitars, basses, keyboards and harmonica as well as a turkish horn called a Zurna.

The band’s spring North American tour hits NYC at Webster Hall on March 31. Tickets for that go on sale Friday (11/11) at 10 AM.
