Kings of Leon and Amy Schumer kicking off Pier 17 Rooftop Concert Series

As mentioned, the Pier 17 Rooftop Concert Series is coming to the Seaport District this August. The series happens at a new, Live Nation-booked, 3,400-capacity (standing) or 2,400-capacity (seated), 1.5-acre venue that sits atop the new Seaport District Pier 17 mall, and today the lineups for the first two nights have been announced.

The series opens on August 1 with a seated show from comedian Amy Schumer (whose new movie I Feel Pretty is out now and who hosts SNL this week), and it continues on August 2 with a standing show from Nashville rockers Kings of Leon. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday (5/11) at 10 AM with a Chase presale starting today (5/7) at 10 AM and more presales after that. The full 2018 performance lineup will be announced on May 14.

Before the Pier 17 Rooftop Concert Series starts, the Seaport District will host a free show with Jon Batiste and the Dap-Kings on July 28. More info on that show will soon be available here.

Here’s a bit more via press release:

“We understand the inherent power of art and culture to define a community,” said David R. Weinreb, CEO of The Howard Hughes Corporation. “The launch of this inaugural concert series will add a dynamic new component to the Seaport District and further establish Lower Manhattan as the city’s next creative hub.”

“This is an important milestone for the Seaport as we continue to revitalize the district and create a unique and vibrant destination unlike any other in New York City,” said Saul Scherl, President of the New York Tri-State region, The Howard Hughes Corporation. “With A-list talent such as Amy Schumer and Kings of Leon bringing our vision for the Pier 17 rooftop to life, we are pleased to welcome New Yorkers this summer to experience this special venue first hand.”
