Kirin J Callinan announces new LP ft. Mac DeMarco, Weyes Blood & more (watch the over-the-top “S.A.D.” video)

Kirin J Callinan
One of the many stirring images of KJC you’ll see in the “S.A.D.” video.

Aussie wildman Kirin J Callinan is back with a new album, Bravado, which will be out June 9 via Terrible Records. The first single is “S.A.D. (Song About Drugs)” and Kirin’s bravado (and everything else) is on full display in its video, which was directed by Danny Cohen and made in Cuba, whose streets add a lot of production value, as they say. But really all you need is Kirin and the camera to be in focus (and pointed at him). You’ll laugh, you may cry, you’ll see most of his naked body. (If you haven’t seen it on Instagram already.) Watch below.

The new album features appearances from Weyes Blood, Mac Demarco, Owen PallettConnan Mockasin, James Chance, Alex Cameron, The Finn Family (Neil & Liam), Jorge Elbrecht (Violens/Haunted Graffiti), and more. Check out the album art (also shot by Danny Cohen) and tracklist below.

Kirin is currently on tour in the U.S. opening for Pond, including two NYC shows: Music Hall of Williamsburg and May 9 (tickets) and Bowery Ballroom on May 10 (tickets). He’s got some non-North American dates as well, and all are listed below.
