Kurt Vile Childish Prodigy

Kurt Vile gives 'Childish Prodigy' 10th anniversary reissue with bonus 7"

Kurt Vile‘s 2009 album Childish Prodigy turned 10 last week, and to celebrate, he released a 10th anniversary reissue. It comes with a reissue of the 7″ for hidden track “He’s Alright” (which also includes non-album tracks “Farfisa In Falltime” and “Take Your Time”), which wasn’t issued again since the original pressing, and there’s a limited edition which comes with the album on light blue vinyl and the 7″ on purple vinyl. That’s pictured below.

Childish Prodigy, which was recorded back when War On Drugs leader Adam Granduciel was still in Kurt Vile & the Violators, was Kurt’s first album for Matador and it was a transitional release for him, as it’s sort of the middle ground between his lo-fi roots and the more polished music that would turn him into one of indie rock’s household names the following decade. It’s still a great record, home to fan favorites like the gorgeous “Blackberry Song” and the hypnotic “Freak Train,” which remains a staple of Kurt’s live show today.

You can pick up your copy of the reissue here and watch the “Freak Train” video below.

Kurt also has upcoming shows with Dinosaur Jr and festival appearances at Levitation and Corona Capital. All dates are listed below.
