Kurt Vile made a playlist of his favorite songs of 2018

The always-great Kurt Vile had another killer year with the release of his mesmerizing new album Bottle It In, which has landed him on some Best Album and Best Song lists of 2018 (like Rolling Stone, The FADER, and Pitchfork). As the year is coming to a close, Kurt also made a playlist of his favorite songs of the year, which he admits is a list of songs by people close to him (he named it “Nepotismic Reticulum: 10 faves 2018”). It includes tracks by Courtney Barnett (who he released a collaborative album with last year), Jessica Pratt (who is on tour with Kurt as we speak), other past collaborators like Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, John Prine, Yo La Tengo, and Steve Gunn, and more. The one artist on the list he doesn’t appear to have toured or collaborated with is Grouper, but he wants to. Check out his list and listen to a playlist of the full thing below.

As mentioned, Kurt is on tour now with Jessica Pratt. They take tonight off and pick things back up in Minneapolis on Wednesday (12/19). Then the Philly artist plays a hometown show the Saturday (12/29) between Christmas and New Year’s with The Feelies and Snail Mail, and in 2019 he tours North America with The Sadies and Australia with RVG. All dates are listed below.

Pictures of one of Kurt’s two recent Brooklyn shows are in the gallery above.
