'L.A.M.F' tribute happening with members of Blondie, Social Distortion & more

Last year, Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers‘ classic (and only) LP, 1977’s L.A.M.F., was performed in full with impressive guests, including Heartbreakers member Walter Lure and Clem Burke of Blondie. The album turns 40 this year, and both Walter and Clem are taking part in performances of the album once again to celebrate its anniversary. The band’s lineup will also include Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, plus surprise guests.

There are three NYC shows — November 29 at Bowery Electric at 7 PM & 10 PM and November 30 at Music Hall of Williamsburg — and an LA show on December 1 at Echoplex. Tickets for Bowery Electric go on sale Friday (9/22) at 10 AM ET, and tickets for MHOW, and Echoplex go on sale Friday at noon ET.

Here’s Glen Matlock on the shows:

Having first encountered the Heartbreakers at rehearsals for the Sex Pistols infamous Anarchy in the UK tour where all the British proto punk bands were taken aback by the songs, style and sheer cocksure arrogance of the dynamic maelstrom that Johnny, Walter, Billy and Jerry conjured, I was fortunate enough to be both friends and watch from London’s sidelines as through various escapades, they took the UK scene by storm.
Lucky enough to have subsequently toured with the members individually over the subsequent years, I am now delighted to be invited to play at these forthcoming shows with not only Walter but the august line up of Clem, Jesse and Mike and promise to do my utmost to keep this seminal band’s legacy alive.
