John Vanderslice’s seventh solo album, Romanian Names, is yet another combination of masterful songwriting and flawless, ambitious production from one of America’s most underrated singer-songwriters. Catch him on tour this month and next.
Speaking of songwriters, Iron and Wine, who played intimate shows in NYC the past two nights, releases Around the Well, a 2-CD collection of rarities and unreleased material.
The new release list is filled with other worthy releases. From what has already been sent my way, I can also recommend Au Revoir Simone’s Still Night, Still Light, Jarvis Cocker’s Further Complications, Jason Lytle’s Yours Truly, The Commuter, Jeffrey Lewis’s Em Are I, Passion Pit’s Manners, and especially White Rabbits’ It’s Frightening.
Four Nick Cave remastered albums (The Firstborn Is Dead, From Her to Eternity, Kicking Against the Pricks, and Your Funeral…My Trial) are released this week, each with a bonus DVD.
