LA’s Beach Party recorded w/ Ty Segall, playing 2 NYC shows including 1 w/ Cole from Black Lips + Ali Forney benefit
While some may grumble at their name, LA’s good times garage punks Beach Party have some cred behind them. Last year’s single, “Can’t Surf / Fun,” was recorded by Ty Segall and the band have shared stages with Best Coast, Bass Drum of Death, and Black Lips. Check out a few tracks below.
Beach Party will be experiencing winter in NYC this weekend, playing two consecutive nights at Baby’s All Right. Friday night (1/24) is a late show with Old King Cole Younger of The Black Lips, with DJ sets by Tennessee Thomas and Skaters (tickets). On Saturday (1/25) they play as part of the benefit for the Ali Forney Center for homeless LGBT youth, that also features Tei Shi, Charlie Waters Quartet, Big Ups, and DJ sets by Au Revoir Simone, Lee Bannon and The Range (tickets).
If you’re going on Friday, you might want to head their early as Baby’s will be hosting a birthday party for filmmaker Larry Clark (Kids). There will be a live performance of LA band reVolt: To quote the Facebook event page: “Free drinks and food will be served. Doors open at 7pm, reVolt plays at 8:30pm, and by midnight we should all be fucked up.”
