Laura Marling previewed her new album at Rockwood (pics), releases new song
Laura Marling previewed her new album, Semper Femina, at a taping for WFUV at Rockwood Music Hall last night (3/1); you can see some pics from the show in the gallery above.. She spoke a little bit between songs about the experience of working with producer Blake Mills, and how, while not quite a concept album, thematically much of it centers around female friendships and femininity. “I don’t think there’s a single male pronoun on the album,” she quipped at one point. The taping will be available to listen to on WFUV later this month, and the album is available March 10 via her own More Alarming label. In the meantime, you can listen to a just-released song off the album, “Nothing, Not Nearly,” below.
Laura will be touring the US and UK in support of Semper Femina, including a stop at the new East Williamsburg venue Brooklyn Steel on May 20 with opener Valley Queen. Tickets are on sale. She recently added many more dates. All dates are listed below.
