Laura Mvula @ Lincoln Center's Appel Room (pics, setlist)

Laura Mvula played The Appel Room on Thursday (2/16) as part of Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series. The UK musician has the kind of classic-sounding voice made for a room as nice as this, and her very able band filled the Appel Room with its highly danceable sound. Laura played about half of 2016’s The Dreaming Room and Sing to the Moon, and treated the audience to two Nina Simone covers: “Be My Husband” and “See-Line.”  Between songs, Laura kept the crowd entertained with hilarious tales of singlehood (post divorce) including the fact that she had brought a Tinder date to the show (for real). Setlist from the show is below and pictures from the night are in the gallery above.
