Laura Veirs & Sufjan Stevens team for "Watch Fire" (listen)

Laura Veirs recently revealed that her upcoming album The Lookout would have some exciting guests, including Jim James (who was also on Laura’s last album), and Sufjan Stevens (whose Carrie & Lowell featured vocals by Laura Veirs). The song that Sufjan sings on, “Watch Fire,” is out now. Sufjan and Laura trade lines in the verses, and it’s a gorgeous, delicate song that should quickly impress fans of Carrie & Lowell. It’s also got some nice orchestral arrangements, and a string instrument that has sort of a sitar-like effect. It’s good stuff — listen below (via CoS).

As mentioned, Laura’s tour hits NYC on May 24 at Rough Trade (tickets). The new album drops on April 13 via her own Raven Marching Band Records. All dates are more info here.

Meanwhile, Sufjan was recently confirmed to perform at the Oscars. He was nominated for Best Original Song for “Mystery of Love” from Call Me By Your Name.
