Laurel Halo

Laurel Halo is an artist of many styles. My favorite thing she’s done is still the experimental pop of 2012’s Quarantine, but she’s explored a lot of different ground both before and after. Her most recent release saw her teaming up with past collaborator Julia Holter (who also works with many styles and has an album coming) and others for a two-song EP as Terepa, which Nicolas Jaar released on his Other People label earlier this summer. This one has Laurel and Julia working with Kouhei Matsunaga, Rashad Becker, Charlotte Collin, Lucrecia Dalt and Gregóire Simon, and coming out with 35 minutes of droning ambience. Listen below. Laurel is also set to release a double EP on Honest Jon’s this September, but most details for that are still TBA.

Laurel has some shows coming up over the next few months, including one in NYC on September 26 at Trans-Pecos. Tickets for that one are on sale now.

That show is right after she plays Seattle’s Decibel Festival. All dates are listed below…
