Lawrence Rothman shares video for Kim Gordon collaboration, touring with Tei Shi

Lawrence Rothman has shared the video for “Designer Babies,” his collaboration with Kim Gordon that’s from his forthcoming debut album. A gothy torch song, the video was directed by Lawrence’s partner, Floria Sigismondi, using wooden puppets to beautiful, creepy effect. While not stop motion, some may think of the Brothers Quay when watching this. Check out the video below.

Lawrence’s debut, The Book of Law, which also features appearances by Marissa Nadler, Angel Olsen, How to Dress Well and Kristin Kontrol, is out October 13. Before that, Rothman will be on tour with Tei Shi, including the NYC date at Music Hall of Williamsburg on 9/20 (tickets). His live shows tend to be theatrical and he’s promising each show will be performed as “one of his 9 different alters.” He’s also got a West Coast headline tour happening later this fall. All dates are listed below.
