'Lazarus' film w/ live score tix on sale; Bowie statue being unveiled in UK town

Tickets for the NYC premiere of David Bowie’s Lazarus film at King’s Theatre go on sale at 10 AM. As mentioned it’s the filmed version of the London production of the musical, with a live score by the band that backed Michael C. Hall and the rest of the Off-Broadway cast in NYC. It’s a one-night-only event.

In other news, the UK town of Aylesbury, where David Bowie first performed as Ziggy Stardust and debuted two albums at shows at the town’s venue Friars, is erecting a statue of the artist next week. Created by sculptor Andrew Sinclair, the statue depicts many of Bowie’s personas from throughout his career. That’s a model of the statue above and the real thing will be unveiled March 25. According to the BBC, the man who launched the crowdfunding for the statue, David Stopps, is also petitioning for the town’s named to be changed from Aylesbury to “Aylesbowie.”

Meanwhile, the “Bowie Is” exhibit is now open at Brooklyn Museum and runs through July 15. Tickets are on sale.
