LCD Soundsystem began 10-show Brooklyn Steel run (pics, setlist)

LCD Soundsystem began their 10-show run at Brooklyn Steel on Monday night (12/11), the capper to a big year for James Murphy and crew that saw them release American Dream, their great fourth album. This may have been the 13th Brooklyn Steel show LCD Soundsystem have played this year, but it was the first since American Dream was released, and comes at the end of their extensive fall tour. Where at previous shows, new songs were allocated to a mid-song set prefaced by some expectation management from Murphy, the American Dream songs are now confidently all over their set, and Monday’s show opened with “Oh Baby,” which also opens the album. They also played “Call the Police,” “I Used To,” “Tonight,” and “Emotional Haircut.” American Dream‘s standout, the nine-minute “How Do You Sleep,” has yet to make it into their setlist yet — maybe they’ll finally give it a try at one of these shows.

The rest of the set was pretty similar to what we’ve gotten at the previous 12 Brooklyn Steel shows, including “I Can Change,” “Get Innocuous,” “Movement,” “Someone Great,” “New York, I Love You,” and the two-song closing whammy of “Dance Yrself Clean” and “All My Friends.” They’ve also been covering Chic’s “I Want Your Love” on this tour and they played that Monday night as well. Setlist from the show is below and pictures from Night 1 of the Brooklyn Steel residency are in the gallery above.

LCD’s run continues tonight (12/12), and then on Thursday (12/14), Friday (12/15), Sunday (12/17), and then 12/18, 12,19, 12/21, 12/22, and 12/23. More tickets for many (but not all) of the Brooklyn Steel shows have been put back on sale — act fast.
