Lee Ranaldo Electric Trim

Lee Ranaldo details new LP ft. Sharon Van Etten on 6 songs, shares new video

Lee Ranaldo recently announced that he signed to Mute for his new album Electric Trim, and now more details and the first single are here. The album is out September 15 and features vocals by Sharon Van Etten on six songs, including “Last Looks,” for which she sings a duet with Lee. The album also features Lee’s Sonic Youth/The Dust bandmate Steve Shelley and The Dust’s Alan Licht and Tim Luntzell, plus guitar great Nels Cline and Oneida member Kid Millions. Other players include Raül Refree, Xavi de la Salud, Cody Ranaldo, and Mar Girona.

The first single is “Circular (Right As Rain).” It’s a poppy song for Lee’s standards, kinda veering into R.E.M. territory and also throwing in a bit of Lennon-esque psychedelia. Watch the video below, along with the tracklist. Artwork above.

Lee also has tour dates coming up (none in the Northeast), and those are listed below as well.

Sharon Van Etten has been having quite the year. She’s also on several songs on the new Land of Talk album, she’s in the new Twin Peaks (and playing David Lynch’s festival), she’s on the The Man in High Castle soundtrack, she scored Strange Weather, and she’s on The OA.
