If you’ve gone to a lot shows in New York City over the years, especially ones for UK bands, you have probably seen Dennis and Lois in the crowd. Legendary superfans, the couple’s first date was seeing a then-unknown band, Ramones, at CBGB, and a lasting love affair with each other and music was born. The Ramones were their first obsession (they sold merch for them at shows) but it was not their last. They have seen over 10,000 shows together, their license plate says “MEKONS,” Happy Mondays wrote a song about them on their classics Pills, Thrills & Bellyaches LP, and they’re still going strong. I spotted them at The Moonlandingz’s Rough Trade show in May.

Filmmaker Chris Cassidy is currently working on a feature length documentary about Dennis and Lois featuring interviews with members of Ramones, New Order, The Charlatans, Happy Mondays, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Elbow (who made a video starring D&L once), The Mekons, A Place to Bury Strangers, Frank Sidebottom, John Grant and more. You also get a tour of their memorabilia-packed home. A kickstarter for the documentary just launched, and we’ve got an exclusive clip from it featuring Peter Hook, Badly Drawn Boy, The Mekons, Craig Finn, and more. You can watch that, and the official trailer for the documentary, below.
