Leonard Cohen faints on stage (video), is 75 today (Happy Birthday!), kicks of US tour in Oct. (MSG still on sale)

Leonard Cohen

The singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen is recovering after collapsing onstage in Spain. Mr. Cohen fainted during a performance of his song “Bird on the Wire” in Valencia on Friday night [September 18th], The Times of London reported. The concert was stopped, and Mr. Cohen, who turns 75 on Monday, was taken to a hospital. He was released early on Saturday after suffering from a stomach complaint, tour promoters said. He is expected to perform the last show of his Spanish tour in Barcelona on Monday before heading to Florida, where he is next due to perform on Oct. 17.[NY Times]

Some are reporting that Friday night’s incident was related to food poisoning.

Today, Monday, September 21st, is Leonard Cohen’s 75th birthday. Happy birthday and stay in good health, Leonard! After wrapping the European leg of his tour today in Spain and playing a show in Israel on Thursday (9/24), Cohen will rest up for his Fall (no pun intended!) North American tour, which gets underway on October 17th. The tour comes to Madison Square Garden for a show on October 23rd. Tickets are still available (though selection is somewhat limited at this point).
