Life of Agony playing Vitus; Mina Caputo playing shows (one with Many Rooms)

Life of Agony

Is the Helmet/Prong tour not enough New York ’90s alt-metal for you? Then you’re in luck, because hometown heroes Life of Agony have just announced two small Brooklyn shows: Saint Vitus on April 18 with Borgo Pass and April 19 with The Pain Method. They say they’re “diving deep into their catalog, performing tracks never heard live.” Tickets for both are on sale now.

Those shows are right before LOA play New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, which is currently their only other US date currently announced. These will be some of their first shows with new drummer Veronica Bellino, as Sal Abruscato recently left the group for personal reasons.

Singer Mina Caputo also has two upcoming hometown performances of her own. She’s among the lineup of musicians playing Lou Reed’s Birthday Celebration at Bowery Electric on March 1, along with Lenny Kaye, Hamish Kilgour, and several others (full lineup and tickets).

Mina also plays a solo set at Brooklyn’s Murmrr Theatre on March 24 opening for poet/author Neil Hilborn (tickets).

The Murmrr Theatre show and several other dates on Neil Hilborn’s tour are with opener Many Rooms (aka Texas musician Brianna Hunt), who is very worth checking out. She makes very somber, quiet, bare-bones music (not exactly folk but in that realm), and she does it very well. Her debut album There Is A Presence Here drops on April 13 via Other People Records. Listen to the song “Which Is To Say, Everything,” along with a list of tour dates (including SXSW), below.
