Lifetime/Minor Threat/Bouncing Souls offshoot Beach Rats announce debut EP

A few months back, we learned of the existence of new punk supergroup Beach Rats, which is fronted by Lifetime vocalist Ari Katz and also features guitarist Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Dag Nasty), Bouncing Souls members Brian Kienlen and Pete Steinkopf on guitar and bass, and Bouncing Souls pal Danny Windas (aka “Dubs”) on drums. Today, the group announced they’ve signed to Bridge Nine Records for their debut EP Wasted Time, out July 27 (that’s the artwork above). There hasn’t been any new music released from the EP as of yet, but the group promises more info coming soon.

Ari Katz recently sat down with Culture Creature to discuss the upcoming release, saying that the group completed the EP “in a day,” and adding that they “did it so quickly, with no overdubs, no nothing. We recorded it like I haven’t recorded in a very, very long time. Just getting a good take and that’s it. It was fun to make music like that – it was exhilarating.” You can read the full interview here.
