Lightning Bolt playing shows, including Desert Daze (updated lineup)
Providence noise rock vets Lightning Bolt haven’t released a new album in four years (their last was 2015’s Fantasy Empire), but they’re still active on the road and playing some shows this year. They have a recently-added NYC show happening at 99 Scott Ave Open Air on September 14 with Baby; Baby: and Murderpact (tickets), and they’re playing the Denver Hex and Desert Daze festivals.
Denver Hex goes down September 6-7 at Denver’s Bluebird Theater with Lightning Bolt headlining day one and Pig Destroyer headlining day two; and other acts include The Body, Dreadnought, The Dwarves, Call of the Void, and more (tickets).
Many more acts have also been added to Desert Daze since we last spoke. The lineup currently includes The Flaming Lips (playing The Soft Bulletin), Flying Lotus 3D, Stereolab, Animal Collective, The Black Angels, Parquet Courts, Dungen, Fred Armisen, Shintaro Sakamoto, Temples, Connan Mockasin, DIIV, Atlas Sound, White Fence, Crumb, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Nick Hakim, METZ, Jakob Ogawa, Viagra Boys, Wand, George Clanton, Blanck Mass, Post Animal, SASAMI, Mdou Moctar, Faye Webster, Surfbort, Dumbo Gets Mad, and Klaus Johann Grobe. More is still to come. The fest goes down October 10-13 in Lake Perris, CA and tickets are still available.
