Lightning Bug sign to Fat Possum, share new single, reissuing 'October Song,' touring

Lightning Bug, the Brooklyn shoegaze/dreampop group led by Audrey Kang, released October Song last year which recalls classic ’90s UK acts like My Bloody Valentine, Pale Saints and Slowdive, but with forays into folk, baroque psych and synthy ambience. October Song was originally just released on cassette and digitally but LIghtning Bug have now signed with Fat Possum who will reissue the album on April 24. They’ve also shared “The Onely Ones,” a lovely and somber track that was recorded during the October Song sessions. “”You know when you experience a sudden extreme of emotion,” asks Audrey? “Not quite anguish, not quite joy, but some unutterable mixture of both. This song is my attempt to express that.” You can listen to that and the album below.

If you’re headed to Austin later in March for SXSW, so are Lightning Bug, and they’ll play a few shows on the way back home, too, hitting Chicago and Columbus. They’ve also got a reissue release show at Brooklyn’s The Sultan Room on May 8. All dates are listed below.
