Catsbury Park Cat Convention 2019

Lil BUB interviewing Fred Armisen, Steve Albini, Kelley Deal & more at NJ cat convention Catsbury Park

Not only has feline internet celebrity Lil BUB rocked out with Andrew W.K. and released an album, she also has her own talk show. Lil BUB’s Big SHOW airs on Animalist (Discovery Network’s YouTube channel), where there are thirteen episodes featuring guests like Whoopie Goldberg and Michelle Obama. This April, for the first time since 2015, a live edition of Lil BUB’s Big SHOW, presented by Scoop Away, will headline the Catsbury Park Cat Convention on Sunday, April 14 at The Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ. Lil BUB has a pretty sweet roster of guests lined up for the convention, including some who are making a return to the show: Fred Armisen, Steve Albini (previously seen on Episode 3), The Breeders’ Kelley Deal (previously seen on Episode 4), and Ozzy Osbourne bassist Blasko.

The Catsbury Park Cat Convention returns for its second year in 2019 on April 13-14, and happens at the Convention Hall and The Wonder Bar as well as Paramount Theatre. 100% of profits go to Catsbury Park, a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue based in Asbury Park, and its partner charities, which include The Brodie Fund, Milo’s Sanctuary, Jersey Shore Animal Foundation, and the Associated Humane Society of Tinton Falls. Last year they raised over $40,000! With the goal of finding forever homes for the adoptable cats that attendees can interact with at the convention in a custom cat cafe/lounge, CPCC also features seminars about rescue, trap-neuter-return, and kitten care; meet and greets with celebrity cats (including Lil BUB and Stache); appearances from Kitten Lady and Klaus; and vendors, DJs, games, presentations, comedians, vegetarian food, and more.

Kicking off the convention on Friday April 12, The Wonder Bar hosts The Cure tribute supergroup The Love Cats (Alex Levine of The Gaslight Anthem and Dead Swords, Chris Gonzalez of The Loved Ones and The Explosion, and Catsbury Park founder DJ Bornschein) and Lil BUB: The Band (tickets). As you can see in the below flyer, the party continues on Saturday April 13 after the convention ends for the night with Tragedy, the all-metal tribute to The Bee Gees and beyond, adding some classic cat-themed tunes to their repertoire, and Cougrr (tickets).

General admission tickets are on sale for Catsbury Park Cat Convention now, with single day and full weekend options, as well as rates for adults and kids. Find more details HERE.

UPDATE: A free show from “the cat rapper” IAmMoShow has been added to the convention’s schedule at 3 PM on Sunday April 16 at The Wonder Bar. Watch the video for “CATTA$TIC” below.
