listen to Dntel's remix of WHY?'s "By Torpedo or Crohn's" from 'Alopecia' reissue

WHY? are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough album Alopecia with a deluxe reissue due August 17 via Joyful Noise. The vinyl comes with a bonus 7″ featuring a couple of remixes. You may have already heard the Boards of Canada remix of “Good Friday,” but here we’ve got the premiere of the flipside — the Dntel remix of “By Torpedo or Crohn’s.” Dntel (aka Jimmy Tamborello of The Postal Service) replaces the song’s original loping beat with high-tension arpeggiated synths and a driving beat that really changes the feel of the song. You can listen to that, along with the original version of the song and the Boards of Canada remix of “Good Friday,” below.

Yoni Wolf and the rest of WHY? will be on tour in Europe in September and have an extensive North American Alopecia 10th anniversary tour this fall, including Brooklyn on November 30 at Elsewhere (tickets). Updated tour dates are listed below. out those tour dates below.

Meanwhile, there’s a tribute tonight (7/10) at NYCs Le Poisson Rouge for Anticon founder Brendon ‘Alias’ Whitney, who died earlier this year, featuring Pictureplane, Sole, B. Dolan, Buck 65, Astronautalis, Passage, Lady Lamb, Ceschi, Kirby Dominant, Spose, MC Lars and more.
