listen to "Get Away" from De La Soul's upcoming LP

Rap legends De La Soul are returning with a new album, You’re Welcome, this fall, and they’ve released a track from it, “Get Away (feat. The Spirit of the Wu).” Regarding the interesting “guest spot,” De La’s Posdnuos told Rolling Stone:

I’ve always loved the ‘Intro’ on Disc Two of Wu-Tang Forever – this erie sample with no beat, that they only talked over. I stumbled on the original sample while crate digging one day, took it straight to the lab and added drums. The feel is definitely gritty, hard and sounds like a Wu record, so out of inspirational respect, we included featuring ‘The Spirit of the Wu’ in the song title.

As mentioned, De La Soul are heading out on a tour this year with Brad Paisley collaborator LL Cool J (w/ DJ Z-Trip), Public Enemy, Ice Cube, and Doug E. Fresh. That tour hits the NYC area on June 18 at New Jersey Performing Arts Center and June 20 at Roseland Ballroom. TIckets for those shows are still available. De La also play The Great GoogaMooga which happens from May 17 to 19 at Prospect Park with Father John Misty, Sharon Van Etten, and others. Registration for that festival is closed.
