Listen to Morricone Youth’s new score for ‘Night of the Living Dead’ which they’re playing at Nitehawk on Halloween

MY1601 Night of the Living Dead album cover

One of the cool Halloween events in NYC that bridges both music and movies is George A. Romero’s seminal zombie film Night of the Living Dead at Nitehawk Cinema on Halloween proper with a live-score from NYC-based group Morricone Youth. That screening is sold out but you can however check out Morricone Youth’s score right now.

The music involves both re-interpretations of the original score to the film and four new songs inspired by it. Morricone Youth have been doing the soundtrack thing since 1999, and this score has a low-fi, creepy, synth-infused garage-rock vibe, and it seems like it should work very well with this horror classic.  Maybe you want to order the vinyl EP and recreate the screening in your apartment.
