listen to Teenage Fanclub's new LP 'Here'

At this point, 25 years into their career, you know what to expect from a new Teenage Fanclub record — ringing guitars, gorgeous harmonies, earworm choruses — and you shouldn’t want (or need) anything else. The band’s tenth album, Here, delivers on all those things, with a nice variety on dynamics as well. They can still rip out a noisy guitar solo, though they’re more likely to go pastoral like a gently flowing stream. As usual, I am partial to Gerry Love’s songs, but Raymond McGinley and Norman Blake deliver the goods too. A new Teenage Fanclub album is always a welcome thing, and you can stream the whole thing at NPR or below.

Here is out September 9 via Merge. Teenage Fanclub will be on tour this fall with two NYC shows: Bowery Ballroom on October 15 (tickets) and Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 16 (tickets).
