The Muffs

listen to The Muffs' "A Lovely Day Boo Hoo" off new LP 'No Holiday'

Alt-rock/punk vets The Muffs are gearing up to release what appears to be their most ambitious album yet, No Holiday, which has 18 songs and includes material written throughout the band’s career that had been “weeded out” in favor of making “super concise albums.” It makes sense, then, that the first single is a noticeable departure from the punchy, punky alt-rock that most people associate with The Muffs. It’s called “A Lovely Day Boo Hoo” and it’s a jangly ballad fueled by acoustic guitar and fleshed out by some nice atmospheric backing arrangements. Bassist Ronnie Barnett says, “This album is a bit more adventurous for us and has a lot of different kinds of songs on it. While we might not be especially known for our ballads they have always been a part of our band that we’re especially proud of!” Listen below.

The album comes out October 18 via Omnivore Recordings (pre-order).
