Listen to Johnny Jewel's surprise new album inspired by 'Twin Peaks: The Return'

Chromatics’ Johnny Jewel has surprise-released a new double album, Themes for Television. The record features music he recorded before music he made for Twin Peaks: The Return (which debuted one year ago today and featured Jewel’s band, Chromatics, in the premiere). “The project began as a sonic exploration of the sounds I was hearing in my nightmares,” Jewel says. “I wanted to find my way out of the maze by focusing on beauty over fear — like the way the fractured sunrise looks in a dream.” The record includes an alternate version of “Windswept,” which did get used in Twin Peaks, and you can watch the video for “Red Curtains” and stream the whole album, below.

Chromatics just released a new single and say their oft-delayed new album Dear Tommy will be out this fall. Speaking of Twin Peaks, David Lynch’s Festival of Disruption happened in Brooklyn this past weekend.
