Lockn' begins, streaming live (including Phil & Bob's 'Terrapin Station' set)

Arrington, Virginia’s Lockn’ Festival begins today (8/24) and continues through Sunday (8/27). As there often is at Lockn’, there’s plenty of Grateful Dead-related fun to be had this year. Phil Lesh & Bob Weir are performing Terrapin Station together (with The Terrapin Family Band and Nicki Bluhm), and both have other separate sets too. Phil plays one with TFB and one with moe., and Bobby plays one with The Avett Brothers. There’s also a screening of the great new Dead doc Long Strange Trip, two Joe Russo’s Almost Dead sets, and more.

The fest also includes Jim James, Margo Price, John Fogerty, Sinkane, Antibalas, Hiss Golden Messenger, Jorma Kaukonen (playing with Moonalice), Gov’t Mule with Ann Wilson of Heart, and more.

If you won’t be at the festival, you can also stream it live (it’s confirmed that the Terrapin Station set will stream). Relix and YouTube are hosting a live stream HERE, which begins at 7 PM ET today, and airs daily from 10 AM to 2 AM throughout the weekend. It’s free to watch the stream, but you can leave a donation and 100% of the proceeds go to the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Festival co-founder Peter Shapiro said:

We’ve been thinking about different ways that we can try and re-direct the energy in the Charlottesville area and do something positive for the community. We wanted to enable anyone anywhere across the globe to experience the music and the great vibes at LOCKN’ and at the same time help support the cause. Ben & Jerry’s, Airstream and YouTube each stepped up quickly so 100% of what we raise will go to the Charlottesville Community Fund and HeadCount. Both organizations do the below the radar work everyday to help the world be a better place, so they were easy organizations to support right now.
