Lollapalooza attendee dies in hospital

For the second year in a row, a Lollapalooza attendee has died. NBC News Chicago reports that the attendee, who they identify only as a 24-year old man, experienced a “medical emergency” while near Perry’s Stage in Grant Park on Saturday (8/3), and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead not long after, according to Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

Melissa Stratton, a spokesperson with the OEMC, released a statement:

We were saddened to learn that an individual transported from the event in critical condition last night due to a medical emergency has since passed away the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Further details and the attendee’s cause of death are not currently available, and an investigation is ongoing.
