Lorde covered St. Vincent, who covered The Crystals (listen to both)

Lorde‘s tour with Mitski and Run the Jewels hit Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday (4/4) night. Melodrama producer Jack Antonoff, who earlier in the evening opened Pink’s Madison Square Garden show with his band Bleachers, made a beeline to Brooklyn after so he could join Lorde for an acoustic rendition of a song from another album he produced, St. Vincent’s “New York.” From “New York,” the pair segued into Lorde’s own “Hard Feelings.” The two songs pair well together and it’s an excellent, emotional cover, and a very cool song choice – watch it in full below.

Lorde has been covering different songs throughout her Melodrama tour, including Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” in Philadelphia, Frank Ocean’s “Solo” in LA, “Drake’s “Shot for Me” in Toronto, and Kanye’s “Love Lockdown” and “Runaway” in Chicago. We wonder what she’ll cover at her Prudential Center show in Newark on Friday (4/6) – tickets are still on sale.

Meanwhile, St. Vincent released a cover of The Crystals’ “And Then She Kissed Me” as part of Universal Love, a collection of wedding songs reimagined for the LGBTQ community. Bob Dylan, Kele Okereke of Bloc Party, Valerie June, Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, and Kesha also contributed covers to the compilation, which you can listen to in full below.

Lorde’s Melodrama and St. Vincent’s MASSEDUCTION were two of our top albums of 2017.
