lots of cool stuff happening at Other Music / MoMA PS1's Music Festival and Label Market this Sunday

As you may recall, Other Music and MoMA are presenting Come Together: Music Festival and Label Market this Sunday (3/26) at MoMA PS1. from noon to 6 PM (tickets). There will be over 60 independent labels, offering records, merchandise, and special limited items, including 4AD, DFA, Daptone, Ghostly, Kanine, Ninja Tune, Rough Trade, Sacred Bones, Secretly Canadian, Thrill Jockey, Domino, Warp, XL, Third Man and more. There’s also a special vinyl-only compilation made just for this event, featuring previously unreleased tracks by Visible Cloaks, Eric Copeland (Black Dice), 75 Dollar Bill, Georgia, Mary Lattimore, Doug Hream Blunt, and more. As for live performances, the day includes Black Quantum Futurism (Moor Mother & Rasheedah Phillips) in collaboration from Matana Roberts and GENG;, Hisham Akira Bharoocha, Brian Chase, Ryan Sawyer and Robert AA Lowe (Lichens) will perform as as IIII (Lines); and Frankie Cosmos’ Greta Kline will play a solo set.

There are also panel discussions. “DIY in NYC” features Ric Leichtung (285 Kent, Ad Hoc), Douglas Sherman (The Loft), Esneider Arevalo (ABC No Rio), and others; “Radio Now” explores “how cutting-edge radio is supporting music innovation and building a global scene, despite the homogenization of mainstream radio, and the collapse of once cutting-edge college stations” with Delphine Blue (Little Water Radio, EVR), Brian Turner (WFMU), Francois Vaxelaire (The Lot), and Jordan Rothlein (Red Bull Radio).

Wait there’s more: there’s also the New York City premiere of the film A Life in Waves, Brett Whitcomb’s documentary about composer and electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani; ; plus workshops with labels RVNG Intl., PTP f.k.a. Purple Tape Pedigree, Luaka Bop, and feminist zine collective Suffragette City.
