Lou Reed‘s archives were just acquired by the New York Public Library with a couple special events to help commemorate. The first of those, a performance of Lou Reed’s 2003 record, The Raven, happened Monday night (3/13) at The Library for the Performing Arts. Reed’s widow, Laurie Anderson, was joined at the performance by Hal Willner, filmmaker Julian Schnabel, Kembra Pfahler, and more. The event also featured some of Reed’s poems being read for the first time. You can watch the whole performance of The Raven below.

The other event is “Drones” at the Schwarzman Building on March 15:

In honor of The New York Public Library’s recent acquisition of the Lou Reed Archive, and the 75th anniversary of Reed’s birthday, the Library is hosting a performance of Reed’s conceptual installation and soundscape, led by his original collaborator, Stewart Hurwood. Plus, in keeping with Reed’s study of the art of tai chi, demonstrations will be led at 7 and 9 PM by tai chi master Ren Guangyi.

“Drones” begins at 6 PM and guests need to register ahead of time for an hourly timeslot. Note: “Tickets are required for this event, although entry is not guaranteed. Guests will be admitted on a first come, first served basis only during the hour for which they registered. Please be sure to have your ticket printed or downloaded to your mobile device. For comfort, yoga mats are suggested.”

You can also check out some of Lou Reed’s archives at The Schwarzman Building’s Astor Hall, as well as the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts from through March 20.
