M. Ward announces new album and 2020 tour (listen to "Migration of Souls")
M. Ward will soon be back with his 10th solo album Migration Stories, which will be out April 3 via Anti Records. He made the record in Montreal with Arcade Fire’s Tim Kingsbury and Richard Reed Parry, and producer/mixer Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Florence and the Machine), and describes it as “11 largely instrumental ballads — a sci-fi fast-forward to a more silent night many generations from here to a maybe-era where movement is free again.” The first single and opening track “Migration of Souls” fits right in with his description, and is a typically intimate-sounding production with dreamy sax helping things float along. You can catch M. Ward on his spring North American tour, including NYC-area stops at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall on April 19 and Manhattan’s Bowery Ballroom on April 22. Tickets for both those shows are on sale now.
Before that tour, though, M Ward and Zooey Deschanel will be teaming up for the She & Him Christmas tour, which begins in Philly on Wednesday (12/4) and hits Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on Friday (12/6) (tickets).
