Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in pics: The Roots, Common, Wyclef, more

The 91st annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade made its way through two and a half miles of Manhattan, from Central Park West to Herald Square, on Thursday (9/22) morning. The annual tradition unfolded under tight security following the bike lane truck attack less than a month ago, on Halloween, but the crowds were as big as ever to watch balloons, marching bands, floats, and musical performers like The Roots, Wyclef Jean, Andra Day, Common, Patti LaBelle, and Smokey Robinson. There were protestors on hand as well, including four people who staged a sit-in in protest of Trump’s immigration policies and blocked the parade route before being removed by police, as NY Daily News reports. Check out photos from the 2017 parade in the gallery above.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! If you’re in NYC over the holiday weekend, find live music and more stuff to do in our guide to Thanksgiving weekend events in NYC.
