Majeure releasing new EP (stream it), touring w/ Mono (dates)

by Doug Moore

Majeure

You may recall that Japanese post-rock stalwarts Mono are briefly touring North America later this month. Joining them for much of their tour will be the one-man electronic music act Majeure. Majeure is the side(ish) project of Zombi drummer A.E. Paterra. As with Zombi, Majeure’s music is a mix of electronics and live musicianship, though its one-man format shifts the emphasis towards synths and sequencing. The same basic stylistic ingredients are at play: ’70s-era film score music, 20th-century minimalism, and Can-style krautrock.

Majeure will release the followup to his 2012 album, Solar Maximum, with a new EP, Romance Language, on November 12 via Temporary Residence. A full stream of the EP premieres in this post, and if you like what you can hear, you can preorder it here. Listen below. The rest of Majeure’s quickly-growing catalog is also available on Bandcamp.

As discussed, Mono’s tour, with Majeure in tow, hits NYC on November 18 at Le Poisson Rouge. TIckets for that show are still available. All upcoming dates are listed, along with the EP stream, below…
