Mark Deutrom (ex-Melvins) has a trippy new video off new solo LP, touring

Mark Deutrom has led a fruitful career for decades that has included a stint as the Melvins‘ bassist from 1993 to 1998 (he played on the albums Prick, Stoner Witch, Stag and Honky), a ton of solo albums and EPs, and live collaborations with Sunn O))) (whose Greg Anderson released some of Mark’s music on his Southern Lord label). His latest solo album The Blue Bird came out earlier this year on Season of Mist (his first for the label), and it’s got everything from sludgy songs that recall his Melvins days to atmospheric psychedelic songs that almost sound like ’70s Pink Floyd but in a modern, forward-thinking way. We’re premiering the video for one of those psychedelic songs, “Hell Is A City,” and the video, directed by Mark’s wife Jennifer (who handled all the visual art for this album and took the above photo), is as trippy as you’d hope for a song like this. Watch the video and stream the full new album below. You can purchase physical copies here.

Mark is also touring with his band Bellringer (whose live percussionist RL Hulsman handled the drums for Mark’s new solo album), and it’s actually Bellringer’s first time hitting the road. Mark’s promising “material from all of my solo LPs and also some special treats, so come out and get your bell rung.” Valley of the Sun are opening the tour. All dates are listed below.
