“Australian literary salon” Women of Letters returns to the US for a show in NYC on Tuesday (3/25) at The Bell House with singer/songwriter Martha Wainwright, The SopranosEdie Falco, MEN/Le Tigre’s JD Samson, British television presenter Dawn O’Porter, Orange is the New Black‘s Yael Stone, The New Yorker senior editor Amelia Lester and Ask Me Another‘s Ophira Eisenberg. “The basic premise involves five or six female writers, performers, actors, politicians, and artists joining together to revive the lost art of letter writing. Each guest is given a topic in advance (‘A letter to the night I’d rather forget’ ‘A letter to my unfinished business’), they write a letter and read it aloud on the night.” Tickets for that show are on sale now.

That’s one of two events in NYC that JD Samson is doing this week. MEN play a live set Thursday (3/27) at The Jewish Museum (1109 5th Ave) as part of the venue’s Wind Up series. “The evening also includes interactive art making activities, tours of the new exhibition Other Primary Structures, and an open bar with beer and wine.” Tickets are on sale now. Also stay tuned for JD’s next PAT Party at Union Pool and the next Scissor Sundays at the Rusty Knot.

Martha Wainwright also has other dates coming up, including two more appearances in NYC. The first is ‘Every Mother Counts’ on May 21 at Life on Mars Gallery (59 Bogart St in Brooklyn), and later in the year she plays the Naked Soul acoustic singer/songwriter series at the Rubin Museum on October 10 (150 W 17th St). Tickets for the Rubin Museum show are on sale now.
