Mastodon, At the Drive-In & Queens of the Stone Age members form Gone Is Gone (listen to a clip)
In addition to sitting behind the throne for the At the Drive-In reunion, ATDI drummer Tony Hajjar is now manning the skins for a new band called Gone Is Gone with a very impressive lineup that includes Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders and Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwe. There’s also guitarist Mike Zarin, who worked with Van Leeuwen on the new Sweethead album. We haven’t heard a full song yet, but they did release a 30 second clip of “Violescent” that does kinda sound like the middle ground of Mastodon’s sludge and QOTSA’s desert rock. “The thought behind this band is to combine what most of us know from many years of being in touring/recording entities and our love of scoring,” Hajjar told Rolling Stone. Listen below.
Their only announced date at the moment is in LA on 4/27.
