Maxo Kream announces new album ‘Brandon Banks’

Maxo Kream Brandon Banks

Houston rapper Maxo Kream recently signed to RCA and then released the very good singles “Still” and “She Live” (ft. Megan Thee Stallion), and now he has announced that his major label debut, Brandon Banks, will be out July 29 via Big Persona/88 Classic/RCA. Maxo says that “Brandon Banks” was the alias his father used to commit fraud when he moved to America from Nigeria, and further explains:

This album is me telling the story of how I’m just like my dad except he was a scammer and I was a trapper. Despite his flaws, he was a great parent, always made sure the rent was paid, made sure I went to school, taught me right from wrong. I wasn’t raised to be a trapper, it just happened because of my circumstances. My relationship with my dad now is great—I used to be terrified of him growing up but now that’s my n****a. We’re like yin and yang.

The album includes both “Still” and “She Live,” as well as “Meet Again” from earlier this year. Besides Megan Thee Stallion, guests include Travis Scott and Schoolboy Q. Production comes from Zaytoven and d.a.Doman, as well as Maxo’s previous local collaborations Teej and Ryan ESL, and Mike Dean handled the bulk of the mixing and mastering. Murda Beatz contributed to the project as well. Watch the album trailer and listen to the three previous singles below.

We named Maxo Kream’s last album, PUNKEN, one of the best rap albums of 2018.
