Maxwell's is for sale (again)

Maxwell's
Maxwell’s in 2013 (more by Matt Schiels)

In 2014, beloved Hoboken venue Maxwell’s was sold and re-opened with the same name and — while things were never the same — continues to host live music. Geoff Rickly of Thursday, Leeway, Michale Graves, Walter Schreifels’ band Dead Heavens, Candiria, The Queers, and more have played the venue under its current ownership.

Now, less than three years later, Maxwell’s is being sold once again. Jesse Jarnow points out it’s on the market via BizBuySell with the title: “Best Deal Ever for Nationally Recognized Turnkey Bar/Restaurant.” The description reads:

Unique opportunity to own a Nationally Recognized Turnkey Bar/ Restaurant with a “33” plenary liquor license included in sale. Completely Renovated with brand new equipment and fixtures. Has state of the art live music facilities with two full service operating bars including 30 taps. Prime corner location with unbelievable visibility on Washington Street. Incredible Opportunity. Will Not Last! Additional information provided with executed confidentiality agreement.

Under “facilities,” they also add that the venue has a: “State of the Art sound system and Live Music Venue which has hosted Nationally and Internationally Acclaimed Artists.”

Upcoming shows at Maxwell’s include Gorguts on June 25. Stay tuned for more on the future of the venue.
