May the Fourth Be With You: Baby Yoda vinyl, 'Rise of Skywalker,' 'Mandalorian' documentary, more

It’s May the Fourth…aka May the Fourth Be With You aka Star Wars Day. (if you need more clarification, ask the nerd in your life.) To celebrate while we’re all stuck inside, Disney+ has dropped a bunch of stuff on the streaming service to keep fans occupied. Most notably, they’ve released Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker two months earlier than they were originally planning, and the final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars went up today, too.

May the Fourth also marks the premiere of a new behind-the-scenes documentary series on Disney+’s hit Star Wars series The Mandalorian (aka The Baby Yoda Show) which was one of the main reasons people subscribed to the streaming service in the first place. Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is hosted by series creator/writer Jon Favreau and features roundtable discussions with its filmmakers (including Taika Waititi, Deborah Chow, Rich Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard,  and Dave Filoni), a look at some of the groundbreaking technology used to make series, plus anecdotes about Werner Herzog (who plays one of the main villain in the series) and more. “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout season 1,” said Favreau in a statement. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.” You can watch the trailer for Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian below.

In other Mandalorian news, Disney+ says the series’ second season will not be delayed by coronavirus and is still on track to debut in October (it’s all shot and currently in post-production). They’ve also just released composer Ludwig Göransson‘s theme as a Baby Yoda-TheChild-shaped picture disc vinyl single. You can see that above and order yours here.

In still more news: Taika Waititi, who directed The Mandalorian’s S1 finale (and also provided the voice of the IG-11 bounty hunter droid, direct his own theatrically released Star Wars film which he’ll also co-write with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho).

Last but not least: the very talented Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette) is creating a new Staw Wars series for Disney+, details still to come. That’s in addition to one based on Cassian Andor’s life prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story; and another following the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope. As they say, stay tuned.
