Black metal legends Mayhem are currently on tour playing their classic 1994 debut album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas in its entirety. Most dates are with fellow black metal vets Inquisition and NYC’s comparatively newer BMers Black Anvil, who recently released the very good As Was. Those three bands played NYC’s Gramercy Theatre last night (2/19), three days after playing the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philly (2/16). We caught the Philly show, and pictures of that one are in the gallery above.

Before the Gramercy show on Sunday, Mayhem bassist show Jørn “Necrobutcher” Stebberud was Rough Trade to talk with Thurston Moore about Stebberud’s illustrated biography, The Death Archives: Mayhem 1984-94, which is out via Moore’s Ecstatic Peace imprint and features never-before-seen photos of the band, and more.

Mayhem play a smaller De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas show at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn tonight, which has no openers billed and is sold out.
