Red Krayola founder Mayo Thompson released a solo album Corky’s Debt To His Father back in 1970, which he says “embraces the personal and treats the instrumental power of music for the sake of expression.” Backed by a five piece band, Thompson played the album in full at Le Poisson Rouge on Sunday night; other than his 2013 appearance at Cropped Out Fest, it marked only the second time it’s been performed live in the last 49 years. The packed crowd, which included Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel, hung on every word.
