MC50 playing shows around Muddy Roots, touring the UK with Alice Cooper

Wayne Kramer celebrated the 50th anniversary of his classic proto-punk band MC5 with “Kick Out the Jams: The 50th Anniversary Tour” in 2018, complete with an all-star backing band. MC50 are on lineup for the 2019 edition of Muddy Roots, and now they’ve announced a couple of shows around it, too. The current lineup of MC50, which includes Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), drummer Brendan Canty (Fugazi), bassist Billy Gould (Faith No More), frontman Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla) and Wayne himself, play headlining shows in NYC and LA before Muddy Roots, and in the fall, they head to the UK to open for Alice Cooper.

MC50’s NYC date happens at Le Poisson Rouge on August 29 (tickets), and the LA date is at Teragram Ballroom on August 27 (tickets). See all of MC50’s upcoming dates below.

Kramer published a memoir last year, The Hard Stuff: Dope, Crime, the MC5, and My Life of Impossibilities, and before his MC50 dates begin he’s going on a four-date Michigan book tour, to celebrate winning Michigan’s Notable Book Award. See those dates below, as well.
